From chapter 1, "The Two Who Looked Away". Every guide is written like a story, with real research behind it.
Thursday, 10:00pm. After the Car Park Sessions. Two young men wait by Chuka's car.
Kelechi was 22, tall and very slim, a university student who spent two hours a day at the gym and still felt "like a stick." His friend Sola was 22 too, shorter and broad, with a soft stomach he tried to hide under oversized shirts. They had been coming to the Car Park Sessions for a month, always quiet.
Tonight they waited for Chuka.
"When you talked about steroids," Kelechi said, "we both looked away because we have been thinking about them. A guy at the gym offered us some. He said we would be 'big in six weeks.'"
"Why do you want them?" Chuka asked.
Sola looked at his shoes. "Because I hate how I look. I never take my shirt off. Not at the beach. Not with my girlfriend. Not ever."
"And I look at the guys online," said Kelechi, "and I feel like I am not a real man."
Chuka put a hand on each of their shoulders. "Let us talk. And bring Jide."
