From chapter 1, ""I Forgot Who I Was"". Every guide is written like a story, with real research behind it.
Saturday, 3:00pm. The cake shop, closed for the Feel Good Club. Eight women. Red velvet. Honesty.
Nkechi was 38, a nurse with three children, and the woman who had once confessed to faking for eleven years at Amara's first women's meeting. Since then, things with Dapo had improved enormously. But today she sat in the corner holding her cake without eating it.
"Things are better with Dapo," she said when it was her turn to speak. "We talk. He listens. But I still do not feel... sexy. I feel like a mother. A nurse. A cook. A driver. Somewhere along the way, I forgot the woman who used to dance at parties and wear red lipstick. I forgot who I was."
Around the room, heads nodded. Several people put down their forks.
"When was the last time you felt sexy?" Amara asked gently.
Nkechi thought for a long time. "My sister's wedding. Nine years ago. I wore a gold dress and danced until 3am."
