Read the opening
From chapter 1, "The Desert Incident". Every guide is written like a story, with real research behind it.
Friday, 7:00pm. Kemi's flat. Nail painting night. Amara on the floor, Kemi on the sofa.
Kemi was painting Amara's toenails lilac with the precision of a surgeon. She had been quiet for a while, which was unusual, because Kemi was never quiet.
"Amara. Can I ask you something embarrassing?"
"You painted my toes. You can ask anything."
"Sometimes I really, really want my boyfriend. Like, in my head I am completely ready. But my body is... dry. Like the Sahara. And he looks confused, and I feel embarrassed, and it ruins everything. Is something wrong with me?"
Amara sat up so fast she smudged a toe. "Kemi. No. There is a whole scientific word for what you are describing."
"There is?"
"Arousal non-concordance."
"That sounds like a disease."
"It is the opposite. It is completely normal."
