From chapter 1, "One Year, No Entry". Every guide is written like a story, with real research behind it.
Sunday, 3:00pm. Tolu's flat. Ifeoma, Tolu and Amara. A plate of puff-puff nobody is eating.
Ifeoma was 28, a bank manager, poised and polished. But her hands shook as she held her tea.
"Chuka and I have been married for a year," she said quietly. "We have never been able to have sex. Every time we try, my body just... closes. Like a door slamming shut. It is not that I do not want him. I love him. I want him. But my body will not let anything in. I cannot even use a tampon. At the gynaecologist, I cried so much they could not examine me."
She looked at the floor. "His mother keeps asking when we will have a baby. I have started avoiding family events. I think something is terribly wrong with me."
Tolu took her hand. "Ifeoma, I am a nurse. What you are describing sounds like vaginismus. It is common. And it is very treatable."
Ifeoma looked up. "It has a name?"
"It has a name. And it has treatments. And many, many people get better."
